Numbers.

Wow.

That year went ridiculously fast. So much has happened in the last weeks never mind months I'm not sure there's enough room on this blog.

At the end of my last couple of posts, we were in the middle of moving flat through no choice of our own. We went on to find a gorgeous flat in the West End which I loved a lot and we spent a year there. A couple of months ago we moved into our current flat which is the opposite side of the city but no less lovely.

So, so far two moves.

Also at the end of my last posts I had just begun a new job which I'm still in. Though I've cut, burnt , bruised and staved all of my fingers at least twice it really is awesome, we're an awesome crew.

So, so far two moves and a new job.

This year both me and James chalked up 7 hospital visits. Backs, ribs, appendix, fingers, electrocution, you name it. We evidently are dangerous people to have in seemingly undangerous jobs.

So, so far, two moves, one new job, seven hospital visits.

Speaking of James, a couple of months back James asked if I'd like to be Mrs Special Jim, and we're now planning a 2014 wedding because I said yes.

So, so far two moves, one new job, seven hospital visits, and one engagement.

Did I also say I actually managed to graduate? Aye, I know! The 27th of June marks the last day of 4 crazy, difficult, free, epic years of my life. My brother is also leaving college with great qualifications, so bang goes our double student discount, forever!

So, so far two moves, one new job, seven hospital visits, one engagement and two graduations.

2013/14, you have a lot to live up to but I don't doubt for a second you'll be anything but extraordinary. Hopefully I'll be able to keep up with you as I go along.

Nom nom nom.

When my younger brother visits we always try and visit new places to eat and so far everywhere has been amazing.

Below are our three favourite places that we struggle not to go to everytime! Spuntini's Italian tapas, Ketchup's amazing burgers (the one in the pic is the Egg On Your Face- burger, topped with black pudding, tattie scone, fried egg and Ayrshire bacon) and Bibi's Mexican nachos.

Glen's coming up in a weeks time, can't wait to see where we end up this time.

It would appear summer is here!

Well, for now...

The past two days have offically shaken winter from my bones - I seems I've forgotten how to wear anything but jackets and boots though! I hope it lasts, I want to enjoy the most of our balcony before we have to say goodbye in May. Speaking of the balcony, above are the tulips gracing it just now that my mum planted up forever ago. They've been out for a while, but I think they look even better in the sun.

I'm currently under house arrest (ordered to wait in on my new bank card arriving) so using the time to soak up the sun and delve into my clay box. Perfect afternoon!

Blossom in the Car Park

She Was Buckets...

Even before I started studying Scottish Literature where I've been able to look at his work indepth, Norman MacCaig has always been my favourite poet. Seeing as it is indeed World Poetry Day and I'm ironically in the middle of writing a 4500 word essay on him, I thought I'd share one of my all time favourite poems:

AUNT JULIA
Aunt Julia spoke Gaelic
very loud and very fast.
I could not answer her —
I could not understand her.

She wore men's boots
when she wore any.
— I can see her strong foot,
stained with peat,
paddling with the treadle of the spinningwheel
while her right hand drew yarn
marvellously out of the air.

Hers was the only house
where I've lain at night
in a box bed, listening to
crickets being friendly.

She was buckets
and water flouncing into them.
She was winds pouring wetly
round house-ends.
She was brown eggs, black skirts
and a keeper of threepennybits
in a teapot.

Aunt Julia spoke Gaelic
very loud and very fast.
By the time I had learned
a little, she lay
silenced in the absolute black
of a sandy grave
at Luskentyre.
But I hear her still, welcoming me
with a seagull's voice
across a hundred yards
of peatscrapes and lazybeds
and getting angry, getting angry
with so many questions
unanswered.

I think I Jinxed It...

Out of nowhere we received a letter on Friday from our landlord stating that we had a month to leave our flat because he had decided to sell it. We were, and still are, totally gutted! The flat has been our home for the past two years and we love it, but unfortunately we have no choice in the matter.

So, for now we've decided the best option is to move back to our home town where we can spend the summer working and looking for a new flat up here before term starts back in September, which I guess isn't a bad thing. It's been three years since I spent a summer at home, and I'm really looking forward to spending time with my brother, going fishing and doing all the other "country" things that aren't around up here.

As if things weren't complicated enough what with the phoning companies and cancelling accounts, filling in paperwork, packing, and everything else, on Monday I got offered two jobs. Yup, two. I waited a whole term with nothing to get two offers after we decide to leave Glasgow. Turns out I can still do both even if it means travelling up from home every weekend so I suppose its not that bad. On top of this my boyfriend has been asked to work night shift, then abroad in the next couple of weeks so I'm going to have to manage sorting things out whilst he's away. Did I mention I'm in the middle of 7 exams and 5 essays? Argh!

Everything creative has been pushed to the back burner as most of my crafty stuff was the first to get packed (mainly so I don't get distracted...) and I may not be blogging very much until after May.

What looked to be a boring summer of money juggling has now been transformed into a crazy adventure!

Still gutted though. I only just memorized our phone number...
