Nom nom nom.

When my younger brother visits we always try and visit new places to eat and so far everywhere has been amazing.

Below are our three favourite places that we struggle not to go to everytime! Spuntini's Italian tapas, Ketchup's amazing burgers (the one in the pic is the Egg On Your Face- burger, topped with black pudding, tattie scone, fried egg and Ayrshire bacon) and Bibi's Mexican nachos.

Glen's coming up in a weeks time, can't wait to see where we end up this time.

It would appear summer is here!

Well, for now...

The past two days have offically shaken winter from my bones - I seems I've forgotten how to wear anything but jackets and boots though! I hope it lasts, I want to enjoy the most of our balcony before we have to say goodbye in May. Speaking of the balcony, above are the tulips gracing it just now that my mum planted up forever ago. They've been out for a while, but I think they look even better in the sun.

I'm currently under house arrest (ordered to wait in on my new bank card arriving) so using the time to soak up the sun and delve into my clay box. Perfect afternoon!

Blossom in the Car Park

She Was Buckets...

Even before I started studying Scottish Literature where I've been able to look at his work indepth, Norman MacCaig has always been my favourite poet. Seeing as it is indeed World Poetry Day and I'm ironically in the middle of writing a 4500 word essay on him, I thought I'd share one of my all time favourite poems:

AUNT JULIA
Aunt Julia spoke Gaelic
very loud and very fast.
I could not answer her —
I could not understand her.

She wore men's boots
when she wore any.
— I can see her strong foot,
stained with peat,
paddling with the treadle of the spinningwheel
while her right hand drew yarn
marvellously out of the air.

Hers was the only house
where I've lain at night
in a box bed, listening to
crickets being friendly.

She was buckets
and water flouncing into them.
She was winds pouring wetly
round house-ends.
She was brown eggs, black skirts
and a keeper of threepennybits
in a teapot.

Aunt Julia spoke Gaelic
very loud and very fast.
By the time I had learned
a little, she lay
silenced in the absolute black
of a sandy grave
at Luskentyre.
But I hear her still, welcoming me
with a seagull's voice
across a hundred yards
of peatscrapes and lazybeds
and getting angry, getting angry
with so many questions
unanswered.

I think I Jinxed It...

Out of nowhere we received a letter on Friday from our landlord stating that we had a month to leave our flat because he had decided to sell it. We were, and still are, totally gutted! The flat has been our home for the past two years and we love it, but unfortunately we have no choice in the matter.

So, for now we've decided the best option is to move back to our home town where we can spend the summer working and looking for a new flat up here before term starts back in September, which I guess isn't a bad thing. It's been three years since I spent a summer at home, and I'm really looking forward to spending time with my brother, going fishing and doing all the other "country" things that aren't around up here.

As if things weren't complicated enough what with the phoning companies and cancelling accounts, filling in paperwork, packing, and everything else, on Monday I got offered two jobs. Yup, two. I waited a whole term with nothing to get two offers after we decide to leave Glasgow. Turns out I can still do both even if it means travelling up from home every weekend so I suppose its not that bad. On top of this my boyfriend has been asked to work night shift, then abroad in the next couple of weeks so I'm going to have to manage sorting things out whilst he's away. Did I mention I'm in the middle of 7 exams and 5 essays? Argh!

Everything creative has been pushed to the back burner as most of my crafty stuff was the first to get packed (mainly so I don't get distracted...) and I may not be blogging very much until after May.

What looked to be a boring summer of money juggling has now been transformed into a crazy adventure!

Still gutted though. I only just memorized our phone number...

Withdrawl Symptoms

I used to take photos all the time of just about everything but due to the brokenness of both my laptop and my DSLR camera, I haven't been able to out and about like I used to. The camera on my phone is proving to be a good substitute for little things as its HD but it just doesn't feel the same.

I found a bunch of old photos on my boyfriends laptop the other day and its motivated me to package up my laptop and camera and finally send them off to get fixed. Excited!!

Wishbear

One of my best friends is turning 21 this weekend, and in celebration we're heading for a day of ice cream, bowling, cocktails, and apparently monopoly tomorrow.

As she has an (unhealthy) obsession with carebears, I decided to make her a wee present of her favourite. I don't like the gold 21, have absolutely no idea why I did it, so about to make a silver lot instead. Then its bed!

Hoolets

Made some dinky owl earrings for my cousin this afternoon. Accidentally gave them glow in the dark eyes but super cute either way.

Glasvegas

Sometimes I forget how much I love living in Glasgow.

Stardate 65648.2.

My first attempt at a steampunk clay bird. Birthday present for my boyfriend's mum.

My last post was in November and in true me-style, I promised to update more. It's now what, March?! I have no idea how that happened... I'm convinced the Earth is spinning faster than it used to. I've been busy though, and by busy I don't mean three hour sandwich making,  I mean actual busy. I've completed several projects, got a new job, and I'm still continuing with uni. (no essays failed last year, boom!)

Okay, that doesn't sound particularly busy but it felt busy and I guess that's what matters.

There's been an interesting developement in my crafting too, as people are now asking me to make custom things for them, which is fantastic! I love hearing new ideas and working with people to make exactly what they want. Whilst over Christmas I experiemented with knitting, crochet, felt and wool, I've reverted back to my love of clay but my projects are made of both. Above and below is a selection of what I've been up to.

In other news, I fell down some particularly slippy stairs and apparently damaged my neck and the top of my spine. So for now, I'm all neck braced and cocodamol-ed up which has made lots of things difficult, but lots of things hilarious at the same time. I'm going to be fine, I just need my muscles to hurry up on their road to recovery! Anyway, I promise I'll post more, the more projects I do, the more posts should come anyway. Fingers crossed...

A knitted octopus!
Knitted acorn..
Knitted mushroom! I adore these.
First attempt at a fabric flower... used a cider bottle top for the centre...

Stemapunk clay chameleon pendant.

Just for fun, Feathers McGraw!
